Mifune Dinosaur Museum

The Mifune Dinosaur Museum features around 850 exhibits, including fossils discovered in the local area and full dinosaur skeletons collected from around the world.

The museum is thoughtfully designed to satisfy visitors’ curiosity in stages, offering video explanations, detailed display panels, and a digital “Curatorial Note” system accessible via smartphone or tablet for deeper learning.

One of the museum’s highlights is its “Open Lab,” which gives visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the fossil cleaning room, research lab, and storage area. You can observe museum staff at work in real time and gain insight into the museum’s ongoing scientific activities beyond the exhibits.

Right next door, at the Mifune Tourism & Exchange Center, visitors can take part in a fossil excavation experience — and even take home one fossil they discover.
